Our annual fishing competition attracted 40 anglers this year; three sessions were fished during the day with most member and guest boats landing fish! Top members bag went to our Club Secretary, Tony Clarke who posted a bag of 3 fish weighing in at 3.65lbs. Top guest bag weighed in at a whopping 5.54lbs and fell to Ernest McCann. Top junior angler was Curtis Quinn with a 3 fish bag of 2.83lbs; best rainbow weighed in at a hefty 5.11lbs to Curtis's dad Arthur and best brown fell to Colm Gilgunn weighing in at 1.87lbs.
With competition fees, very generous donations from guests and members who were unable to fish, prize donations for the competition itself and the impromptu raffle held on the day - we raised in excess of £1300 which was generously topped up to £1500 by a unanimous vote of the DDAA Committee. All proceeds have been forwarded to Prostate Cancer UK.
Thank you all for your continuing support and painting our sport in great light.

Dear Noel
Thank you so much for the fantastic donation of £1,500 from Downpatrick and District Anglers Association Limited. I understand you would like a representative to attend for a cheque collection? I’d be delighted to do my best to match one of our local volunteers to attend.
You will receive an official thank you in writing over the next few days. Please, do let me know if you’d like a certificate to display and I can arrange this for you also.
Thank you again for choosing Prostate Cancer UK. We rely almost entirely on donations from the public to do our work and your support is greatly appreciated.
If you’d like any further information about Prostate Cancer UK, our work, or the services we provide, I’m here to help.
Best wishes
