Working Party 6th September 2015

Member volunters are required to help make and replace the barley straw booms on Loughinisland Lake. The current booms are at the end of their life cycle and we wish to replace them prior to the onset of the winter months. It is crucial that we maintain this initiative in tryng to combat our algal bloom, not only in the short-term but more importantly, in the longer-term management of our water.

If members would meet on Sunday 6th September 2015 at 10am at the boat house, Loughinisland Lake, where volunteers will help construct and place the booms across our lake. The more volunteers we are able to get, the sooner the job will be completed.

We Need: any large plastic milk cartons, lemonade bottles etc. that can be used as buoyancy within the body of the booms - so start keeping them now!

Please note!

Fishing on Loughinisland Lake for club and private boat owners on Sunday 6th September 2015 will be suspended until the booms are constructed and sited appropriately on the lake.
